Grow a little bit of dahlia-breeding history in your garden. This is number 6 in the 'Alf' collection. A great neon yellow miniature decorative that was early to flower and has very pretty pointed petal tips.
Our 'Alf' collection was started in 2024 when we received a box of unnamed, second year seedlings from the collection of Alf Hardingham (Glenmarc breeder). Alf had sadly recently passed away, and his friends in the Portland Dahlia Society were sharing tubers from his breeding programme.
We were unsure how to handle these dahlias once the single tubers grew into big clumps. While we will continue to grow most next year, we don't need 10 of each! As a trial we decided to sell Alf's seedlings, with profits going back to the Portland Dahlia Society.
The seedlings are not Glenmarc tubers as that was Alf's alone to assign. Who knows which ones might have made the grade; all, some or none - we can guess. We hope you enjoy these 'Alf' seedlings in your dahlia cutting garden.
